Event Detail

Day 1: Aksaray - Uchisar - Goreme - Avanos

Avanos
Avanos, a historically rich district in Nevşehir, is notable for its significant monuments and cultural sites, both for Muslims and Christians. This charming area is renowned for its ancient buildings, cultural centers, and picturesque valleys that attract numerous visitors.

Saratlı Karagöz Underground City
Saratlı Karagöz Underground City captivates tourists with its intricately carved safety gates made from millstones, designed to confound outsiders. Dating back to the Roman period, this underground refuge was used by early Christians fleeing Roman persecution. It served as a sanctuary where they could live safely for extended periods until the threat subsided.

Uchisar Castle
Uchisar Castle, the highest and windiest point in Nevşehir, offers spectacular views and a chance to "touch the clouds." If you visit near sunset, you’ll be treated to a stunning display of fairy chimneys bathed in the sun’s red hues and the vibrant colors reflecting off the valley. Often referred to as the "eye of Cappadocia," the castle provides panoramic vistas from the snowy peaks of Erciyes, Anatolia’s highest mountain, to Mount Hasan. Historically used for concealment and defense by early Christians and later as a watchtower during the Seljuk period, Uchisar Castle is a must-see.

Fairy Chimneys
The Fairy Chimneys in the Priests' Valley are renowned for their tranquility and seclusion. This area is known for its serene environment, making it an ideal spot for quiet contemplation and reflection, capturing the essence of Cappadocia’s peaceful charm.

Day 2: Goreme - Aksaray - Seydişehir - Antalya

Goreme Open-Air Museum
The Goreme Open-Air Museum, dating back to the 4th century BC, is a remarkable rock settlement that thrived as a monastic center until the 19th century. Carved into the rock, the site features churches, chapels, dining halls, and living quarters. Early Christian geometric patterns and later frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible and the life of Jesus can be seen in the various churches, including the Girls and Boys Monastery, St. Basileus Church, Elmalı Church, St. Barbara Church, Yılanlı Church, Dark Church, Çarıklı Church, and Tokalı Church.

Sultanhanı Caravanserai
Built between 1232 and 1236 by Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, the Sultanhanı Caravanserai has been extensively restored between 2007 and 2010. This historic caravanserai offers insight into the region’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.
